Rebuilding Homes

Rebuilding Together Kent County brings neighbors together to improve homes and lives. We put together donated building materials, gifts of money, and countless hours of skilled and unskilled volunteer time to repair and rehabilitate the houses of our neighbors, many of whom are seniors and/or people with disabilities. All work is done at no cost to the homeowner. Whatever your skills and experience may be, there is a way you can help work toward a safe and healthy home for every person in Kent County.

Rebuilding Homes

Our volunteers have donated thousands of hours to rebuild kitchen additions, reconstruct front porches, repair plumbing, floors, roofs, install windows and doors. We make accessibility improvements such as widening doorways and constructing ramps, and renovating bathrooms for improved accessibility.

Our referrals come from County and State agencies such as the Departments of Housing & Community Development and Social Services, town officials, churches, neighbors and family members.

Community partners for our projects have included Mercantile Eastern Shore Bank, Chestertown Rotary Club, Kent Youth, Washington College, Galena United Methodist Youth Group, Presbyterian Church of Chestertown, BB&T Bank of Millington, Peoples Bank, Chester River Friends Meeting, United Way of Kent County, and the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Chester River.

Rebuilding Lives

We bring neighbors, businesses and organizations together to repair homes and revitalize communities, preserving homeownership, strengthening families and helping sustain the historical richness and intergenerational legacies that make Kent County a special place to live.

We repair and rehabilitate the houses of our neighbors, many of whom are seniors or people with disabilities. We perform all repairs at no cost to the homeowner, by combining gifts of money, donated materials and supplies, and countless hours of skilled and unskilled volunteer labor.  Since we began in September 2004, we have completed projects throughout all of Kent County.
